Description
Capable sources are being sought to provide a Custom Datawall Touch Screen to the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Rome Research Site (RRS). Specifically, one custom built Touch Interaction System consisting of advanced SMART DViT touch interaction for a rear projection display screen. The display screen to be touch enabled will be supplied by RRS and is 112"W X 31"H (including frame) with a 108" x 27" display area. The display system into which the touch system will be integrated utilizes a single Microsoft Windows? PC with 3 graphics outputs driving 3 horizontally tiled video projectors. Each projector will be driven at a resolution of 1400 x 1050 pixels for a total display resolution of 4200 x 1050 pixels across the display area. This system must be compatible with this display configuration. The sensor system technique must be scaleable to the 108" x 27" multi-projector rear projection display area. It must also require no sensor material be placed on the display screen surface to maintain optimal image quality. Its mounting system must also be compatible with the AFRL/IF screen frame to which it will be integrated. Main System elements: Camera sensors IR illumination system Bezeling along sides and bottom of touch surface One or more controllers to determine and report events within the active area of the display Technical phone support for operation of the System Full assembly of the System at SMART's facility Initial full assembly of the System at the US AFRL facility Detailed instructions for assembly Software: SMART will provide a SMART Board? interactive whiteboard service that will handle the SMART Board interactive whiteboard System. The SMART Board interactive whiteboard software will be required to run on a Microsoft Windows based PC. The vendor will provide the following: Logic required to properly handle the transition between the camera pairs on the touch surface. SMART Board interactive whiteboard software that allows for a single contact anywhere on the touch surface. An SDK that will permit the monitoring of all SMART Board interactive whiteboard contact events. Monitoring events will report XY data in display coordinates along with the unique ID identifying the contact. The SDK will also permit the making of SMART Board interactive whiteboard AWARE applications for Win32 Windows applications or Java applications. The SDK will be provided for Windows applications as a COM DLL and for Java applications that enable an application to be sent contact events from the SMART Board interactive whiteboard software. Functionality: Functionality similar to existing SMART Board DViT systems. Contact/detect, XY coordinate location. Finger or stylus (similar in dimensions to a finger) control. Supports single touch across the touch surface. Please note that this synopsis is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation for competitive bids/proposals and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Responses to this sources sought are requested from small businesses. The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334119 and the size standard for small business is 1,000 employees. Respondents to this announcement should indicate whether they are a small business, 8(a) concern, veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, women-owned small business, or historically black college or university (HBCU) or minority institution (MI) (as defined by the clause at DFARS 252.226-7000). All interested parties who believe they can meet the requirements are invited to submit in writing complete information describing their ability to provide the Custom Datawall Touch Screen listed above. The information received as a result of this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Air Force not to open the requirement to open competition, based on response to this sources sought synopsis is solely within the discretion of the Air Force. The Government does not intend to pay for any information provided under this sources sought synopsis. It is anticipated that a Firm Fix Price contract will be awarded in July 2006.
