- Description
- The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has a requirement for a combined Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite signal generator and GPS jammer/spoofer signal simulator for testing GPS receivers and receiver/antenna combinations to evaluate the receiver anti-jam/anti-spoofer performance in realistic signal environments. Two (2) testing configurations are envisioned. Configuration 1 uses a direct injection set-up, in which a composite GPS signal comprised of a satellite-jammer-receiver scenario is connected directly into the GPS receiver, by-passing the antenna. This set-up will exercise the internal receiver signal processing functions which have been designed to work in stressing signal environments. Configuration 2 will incorporate individual signal generator outputs for multiple satellites and multiple jammer signals radiated from various locations into an anechoic chamber. This configuration will spatially simulate a satellite constellation and jammer scenario in which a GPS receiver is located and connected to a Controlled Radiation Pattern Antenna (CRPA) type of antenna. This set-up will not only exercise the receiver internal anti-jam processing, but also the anti-jam capability of the antenna. This configuration will also require, as outputs from the GPS signal simulator, control signals which can be integrated to a rate table on which the CRPA antenna is mounted ? to simulate attitude changes of the simulated vehicle platform. Both configurations will require signal selection of L1/L2/L5 frequencies. Code selections of C/A, L2C, P, and P(Y) codes are required, as well as Y-Code (Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM)) and M-Code which includes (M-noise, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) M-code, and M-code-data sets). Sole source negotiations will be held with Spirent Federal Systems, Inc. (Spirent). Spirent developed a GPS simulator which became the industry leader in this technical area. Spirent also provides unique capabilities and experience from its sales of multiple units to DoD Laboratories. Contract period of performance is estimated to be sixteen (16) weeks.
