The current status of SBIR items must be clearly stated. NAVAIR Lakehurst is requesting information pertaining to the availability of a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) reliable device to incorporate into a Navy hydrogen fueled technology demonstrator Aviation Support Vehicle (ASV). This ASV will provide both towing and Mobile Electric Power (MEP) capabilities. The device must correctly function in a hostile environment (+150 degrees F to ?50 degrees F @ 100% humidity in both salt spray and blowing sand as well as +/- 15 degrees of pitch and roll). NAVAIR Lakehurst is requesting information pertaining to a Stirling Engine powered generator that will provide at least .5 kva of electrical power and operate using 195O F cooling fluid from a 60 kva (net) hydrogen fuel cell. The purpose of this device is to recover the heat energy currently radiated to ambient air, thereby reducing the radiator cooling area required by the ASV. The device must be compact and not larger than 2 ft3 (1ft x 1ft x 2ft). Interested parties responding to this RFI are requested to provide heat consumption figures/charts, reliability (MTBF), maintainability data, and electrical output specifics (max continuous amperage available, etc.) for their units. Respondents are also requested to provide commercial pamphlets, operating and maintenance manuals or any other documentation that would describe a unit that meets the above requirements. It is also requested that respondents provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) pricing for all items vetted with pricing valid FY 2006 thru 2008, inclusive. Pricing will be used for planning purposes. Please contact Mr. Anthony Verzella, at 732-323-1511 or email anthony.verzella@navy.mil for questions regarding the technical aspects of this RFI.
