Description

The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Semiconductor Electronics Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Unaxis USA, Inc, of St. Petersburg, Florida for the purchase of one set of 6? wafer chucks. Sole source determination is based on the following: The 6? wafer chuck set being purchased is for processing 6? wafers and substrates in existing NIST equipment originally purchased from Unaxis USA, Inc. The wafer chucks are an upgrade to the existing equipment. Compatibility and dimensions of the required equipment is imperative for proper function of the equipment. Wafer chucks are specifically designed to fit properly in the shuttle arm of the equipment?s shuttle stage. This design is proprietary to Unaxis. Unaxis is the sole manufacturer and sole distributor of these chucks. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by August 03, 2006 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
