- The National Institutes of Health (NIH)Office of Director (OD) intends to negotiate and award on a sole source purchase order utilizing simpified acquisition procedures (FAR part 13) to University of North Carolina, School of Medicine, to develop a Clinical Genetic Test for Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) This ia a multigenic disease associated with abnormalities in the structure and function of cilia of the respiratory tract and flagella of sperm and is usually inherited as an autosomal recessive trait. It is a "rare" genetic disorder. 1. The period of performance shall be one year from the date of award. 2. The Contractor shall develop a clinical panel that can be used to diagnose (PCD). 3. The Contractor shall develop a molecular genetic testing panel for (PCD) 4. The Contractor develop a panel test for mutations that have been associated with PCD using PCR followed by sequence analysis. 5. The Contractor shall develop and validate the sequence based assay for the 5 exons with mutation cluster in DNAH5. 6. The Contractor shall develop educational material that will be developed in a collaborative effort of a gentic counselor, the voluntary health organization (PCD) Foundation, M. Manion, president), a geneticist and pediatric and adult clinicians and will be available on the clinical laboratory and PCD patient advocate foundation web sites. This is not a formal solicitation, however, concerns that respond to this notice must furnish concise responses directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above. Sources demonstrating the capability to accomplish the above shall supply pertinent information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to perform. Information furnished shall include enough material to perform a proper evaluation. Respondents will not be notified of the evaluation results.
