- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Building Environmental Division intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with Hitech Instruments Inc of Broomall, PA, for the acquisition of parts and services to provide a Transmitted Light Upgrade for Zeiss Axioimager Z1M Optical Microscope. The upgrade parts shall include: HT-423901 TRANSMITTED LIGHT MOT A-IMAGER HT-4236219901 SHUTTER F/TRANS LIGHT A-IMAGER HT4283019901 FILTER WHEEL MOT F/A-IMAGER HT-487931 FILTER SET D 25MM F/A-IMAGER HT-430705 CONDENSER CARRIER F/430704 HT-423000 LAMPHOUSING 12V 100W A-IMAGER HT-3800799540 540380 HAL. 12V 100W W/SQ.FIL HT424203 ACHR APL COND 0.9 H MOT HT-4226929960 EC EPIPLAN APO 100X0.95 HT-4223109900 EC EPIPL-NEOFL 1.25XM27 HT-4223209960 EC EPIPLAN NEOFLUAR 2.5X HD HT-RETROFIT SERVICE CHARGE TO ADD TRANS LT HT-TRANSPORT TRANSPORTATION CHARGES Sole source determination is based on the knowledge that the NIST is unaware of any other company besides HiTech instruments that offers the products to allow the sought-after upgrade of the existing Zeiss Axioimager Z1M Optical Microscope. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 333314, and the size standard is 500 people. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by August 9, 2006 will be considered by the Government.
