Description
This is a market survey to locate sources for the potential development of a Light Weight Fusion Goggle System (LWFGS). The LWFGS requirement is for a light weight, rugged, militarized, helmet mounted, binocular, direct view image intensified (I2) system fused with Long Wave Infrared (LWIR) on one I2 channel. The LWFGS shall consist of one binocular I2 system fused (optically or digitally) with a LWIR imager, a CR-123 battery pack to mount on the rear of a helmet to be determined, and a cable to power the system. The major LWFGS performance parameters include (not inclusive and subject to change. Parameters: Weight (lbs) with battery pack (threshold 2.25, objective 2.0)// Operating Time (hours)(threshold: 6, objective 8)// Volumne -Goggle (in3)(threshold 60, objective 55)//FOV - I2 (degrees)Threshold 38, Objective 38)//FOV - LWIR (degrees)(threshold: 20 Hor/16 Vert, Objective 20 Hor/16 Vert//Magnification (Threshold 1x, Objective 1x) This Request for Information (RFI) is to help the Government determine the ability of the technology base to meet the requirements of the LWFGS, with the emphasis placed on the weight of the system. This Request for Information (RFI) is to help the Government determine the ability of the technology base to meet the requirements of the LWFGS, with the emphasis placed on the weight of the system. The Government anticipates a formal Request for Proposal to be published in 2Q FY07 if the response to this RFI warrants one. Please reply with an intended plan to achieve the threshold/objective requirements in a concise manner (10 pages or less, Times New Roman 12 pt font). The main area of emphasis should be the use of lightweight/rugged materials, low power electronics, and innovative design. The PM may contact any offeror to clarify their plan. The Government POC is Mr. Aric Sherwood: (703) 704-3513. This request for information is for PM Special Programs to determine the technology base for Light Weight Fusion Goggle Systems. Responses should be mailed to the Contracting Officer, Richard Boast and Tina Lopez the Contract Specialist USSOCOM/SOAL-K, 7701 Tampa Point Blvd. MacDill AFB, FL 33621-5323 or emailed to Contracting Officer richard.boast@socom.mil and Tina.Lopez.ctr@socom.mil
