CS, 22 August 2006 Request for Information (RFI): The Government will not compensate any interested party, firm, or individual that may choose to provide a response to this RFI. An appropriate Request for Proposal (RFP) process may follow if funding is provided. Purpose: The purpose of the Heritage Coat Program is to develop a new Service Dress coat for Air Force personnel that will embody the ?Heritage to Horizon? motto of honoring the Air Force?s past even as it meets the future. The Air Force Clothing Office has been tasked to lead this effort. To meet the initial program objectives, we are seeking Professional Uniform Design/Concepts in the form of Drawings/Sketches and story boards. These designs are required to capture a professional appearance which communicates the Air Force?s rich military heritage as well as foster the feelings of pride, dignity, and honor associated with that heritage in the individual wearing the uniform. Emphasis is placed on a professional military looking appearance. Note that two drawings for each concept is required?one for females and one for males. To aid in the design effort, three pictures are attached. One is Gen Billy Mitchell of WWI and one is Gen Hap Arnold of WWII?these capture two of the past coats. One is of the current AF Service Dress Coat. The current service dress coat is blue and the fabric is a polyester/wool blend. Trims and other colors are encouraged to be used in the designs. Alternate fabrics and colors will be given full consideration. The coat designs may be belted. *The Air Force Clothing Office will be hosting an ?Industry Day? tentatively set for 29 August 2006 at Wright Patterson AFB, OH. Upon design determination, a Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued for prototypes and possibly test garments. The Air Force Chief of Staff, through the Air Force Uniform Board, will be the final approval authority for any new uniform design. Any and all resources may be used to develop the coat at the designer?s discretion. Information may be gathered by any means. Designers are encouraged to develop/bring more than one design to Industry Day. Industry Day *Industry Day is tentatively schedule to be held on 29 August 2006 at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.
