Description

The U. S. Department of the Interior, National Business Center, intends to make a firm-fixed price, sole source award to Advanced Optics, Pewaukee, WI. GovWorks/DOI intends to issue a Purchase Order in accordance with FAR Part 13.3, Simplified Acquisition Methods and 6.302-1 only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This non-competitive action is being issued by GovWorks under the authority of the U. S. Department of Interior Franchise Fund on behalf of the US Army, Program Management Office - Airborne Reconnaissance Low. The US Army has a need for fused silica optical windows to protect the PeARL imaging systems without a single negative impact and the ability to fully support the War Fighter. Optical tolerances consistent with diffraction limited performance are required by the imaging system. Changing to an alternate window supplier at this point would add program risk and negatively impact our ability to support the War Fighter efficiently and meet the quick reaction schedule that has been imposed upon the program by the field commanders. Using an alternate source for optical fused silica windows to support the PeARL imaging system jeopardizes mission support due to the time to develop a working relationship in areas of technical support in the operation of the complex features of the mounting design for the window assemblies, and the unknowns of developing an alternate source. This is NOT a request for competitive quotes. The intent of this Special Notice is for informational purposes only.
