- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse (NIAAA) has a requirement to purchase a PML-Spec-1-1200 16 channel photomultiplier spectral-lifetime detector; SIMPLE-TAU-830-DX-N time correlated single photon counting system, a BDL-475-SMC 475nm pulsed diode laser capable of operating in CW as well as at 20, 50, and 80 MHz that can be launched into a single mode fiber, as well as the DCC-DLL software. The purchase of these components from Boston Electronics, 91 Boylston St., Brookline, MA 02445 is requested to complement the current research in the Laboratory of Integrative Neuroscience, studying activity-dependent changes in the brain, from molecules to systems. The components are needed to build a fiber optic based system to monitor changes in fluorescent molecules in awake behaving animals, i.e. with the capability of following the expression, conformation, or sub-cellular localization of particular molecules, which we tag with fluorophores such as GFP. The system, custom-designed with Becker & Hickl to our experimental needs is composed of integrated components needed to excite and measure the photon emission of particular fluorophores. It is currently the only system commercially available that is capable of simultaneous lifetime and spectral analyses using data acquired through a fiber optic. Furthermore, this system is compatible with imaging components and software already existent at the NIAAA, in the Laboratory of Melecular Physiology, the collaborator on this project. To the best of the Governments knowledge the proposed contractor is the only known source that can provide the components. Interested vendors may identify in writing their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting Office prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however; all responses received, before the closing date, of this announcement will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. It is anticipated that the Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-06-938 will be available fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is September 20, 2006. Request for copies of the RFQ must be in writing to the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, 6707 Democracy Blvd., Room 775, Bethesda, MD 20817 Attention: Patricia Haun. FAX quotations must contain offerors name, address, telephone number and fax number. FAX quotations will be accepted if dated and signed by an authorized company representative. FAX NUMBER 301-480-8502.
