Description

With this announcement, the Chicago District Corps of Engineers issues a Pre-solicitation Notice for its Calumet River Project in Chicago, Illinois. The Contractor will be responsible for providing all the necessary facilities, plants, labor, transp ortation, materials, and equipment to accomplish the entire project as stated below. The submerged objects to be removed are located in the Calumet River, just south of the 106th St. Bridge at River Mile 330.8. The debris is adjacent to the Cronimet Stai nless Steel dock wall, within 30 of the easternmost side of the river in this area. The objects are located at a depth of 20 to 25 feet below the waters surface. The six (6) obstructions will be removed from the river, and removed from the site by the contractor. These pieces of debris are composed of reinforced concrete. The Obstruction Approximate Dimensions and Approximate Weight are as follows: #1 - 6 x 6 x 15 and 40 Tons; #2 - 6 x 6 x 21 and 57 Tons; #3 - 3 x 4 x 6 and 6 Tons; #4 - 4 x 5 x 10 and 15 Tons; #5 - 6 x 6 x 21 and 57 Tons; and #6 - 4 x 4 x 9 and 11 Tons. The concrete blocks are buried approximately 3 within the river bottom. Disposal of the concrete blocks is the contractors responsibility. The Classification Cod e for this procurement is North American Industry System (NAICS) 237990  Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction and it is a TOTAL SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE. The solicitation (Request for Quote) will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The pr oject specification files are Portable Document Format (PDF) files and can be viewed, navigated or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. The solicitation will be available on the Internet on 15 September 2006. The due date for quotes will be on or about 20 September 2006, at 4:00 PM Chicago Local Time. In order for contractors to conduct business with the Department of Defense, the contractor must provide registration information to the Central Contractor Registration (CCR).
