Description

The Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA), is soliciting industry input regarding its plans to develop, implement, and procure a credit-card size travel document. The Passport Card will be an accepted alternative to the traditional book-style passport for presentation at U.S. land border crossings by January 1, 2008. Additional details regarding the proposed Statement of Work and specifications of the card are contained in the attached Word document titled WHTI Draft SOW. Written comments are due by 4:00 p.m. EST on December 1, 2006. This Request for Information (RFI) seeks industry comments only and is not a request for price or technical proposals. This RFI does not constitute an RFP and does not obligate the Government in any way. In order to allow interested industry participants an opportunity to review Government requirements and provide feedback, the Department will convene an RFI Conference on November 17, 2006. Detailed information about the RFI Conference is contained in the attached Word document titled RFI Conference. Please e-mail advance questions and/or comments pertaining to the RFI Conference or the attached documentation to the Contracting Officer via the POC listed below. This invitation to participate in the Industry Day conference is voluntary and does not constitute an invitation for bid or a request for proposal. The information presented at the Industry Day will not obligate the Government in any manner. The Government will not reimburse the attendees for any cost associated with participation or attending the Industry Day, and is under no obligation to award any related contract associated with this event.
