- THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) AND IS NOT A COMMITEMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION OR ULTIMATELY TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI). Responses to this RFI will not serve as proposals, bids or offerors, which could be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Submission of any information in responses to this RFI is completely voluntary, and shall not constitute a fee to the government. The main purpose of this RFI is to conduct market research and determine the organizations capable and interested in providing Antivirus software for The Department of State using a performance base approach. Introduction: Department of State (DoS) Bureau of Information Resources Management, Office of Systems Integrity Division for Antivirus Software is requesting a (RFI) to query qualified firms who have prior experience in providing Antivirus software for large federal agencies using a performance base approach. The Department is seeking information on offerings, capabilities, and practices that are present today and those that are being developed for the future. The Department seeks information on integrated/intelligent anti-virus/SPAM software tools with throughput capabilities of bandwidth Optical Carrier (OC) 3 and OC12. OC3 connected by equipment capable of speeds up to 155.52 mbps and OC12 connected by equipment capable of speeds up to 622.08 mbps. Currently, the Department uses OC3 and is planning for OC12 in the very near future. We would like to receive names and specifications of AntiVirus and SPAM vendors that can handle this capacity. There will be approximately 65,000 users who will be using the LAN base AntiVirus Software and training maybe needed. The information provided herein is for planning purposes only. Responses should be no longer than 10 pages this information should not be considered as exhaustive as the strategy for this acquisition may change prior to the release of the Request for Proposal (RFP). The closing date for the receipt of responses is 11/14/2006. Electronic responses are encouraged, although hard copy responses will be accepted.
