Description
This research and development sources sought seeks to identify qualified sources for the following requirement: Self-decontaminating and protective solutions/coating which when applied to various materials will repel contamination or self-decontaminate while preserving the original appearance of the material. The applied substance/coating should be in a medium such as an aerosol spray, powder or liquid (when mixed with water or other world wide commercially available solution), or lotion that modifies the surface of a wide range of materials such as clothing, rubber, plastic, and metal to enhance its ability to repel contamination, and/or self-decontaminate. The applied substance/coating should provide up to six hours of equal to or greater protection, when compared to JSLIST Approved Materials, against liquid, vapor, and aerosolized chemical agents and TICs/TIMs (Specific agents and TIC/TIMs to be determined.) The substance should not have adverse effects on personnel or small unit/individual equipment/materials. Additional Information: 1. Likely types of surfaces and materials to be applied on: Common clothing textile blends Rubber Plastic Metal 2. Quantity of material/solution should be adequate for no more than one treatment of one each of the following common textile blend garments: long sleeve shirt pants socks gloves made from common textile materials 3. The expected deliverable will consist of one or more of the following: Aerosol Spray Liquid or powder compound for mixing in water or world wide commercially available solution Lotion Sources having the capability to provide this requirement are invited to submit white papers (3 pages maximum). Responses should be provided to Ms. Kathy Cooper via email at kathy.cooper@dtra.mil no later than 15 November 2006. Company information should include qualifications and experience in work of this nature, point of contact, business size and disadvantaged, 8(a), or HUBZone. This sources sought synopsis is for information planning purposes and the Government will not pay or otherwise reimburse respondents for information submitted. All documentation shall become the property of the Government. Unless otherwise stated herein, no additional information is available. Requests for the same will be disregarded. There is no commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation, to make award or awards, or to be responsible for any monies expended by any interested parties in support of any effort in response to this sources sought notice. Information provided herein is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to solicit or award a contract.
