Description

The United States Government, represented by the U.S. Agency for International Development Mission to Indonesia (USAID/Indonesia), intends to short-list suitably qualified International Contractors (following FAR Part 15) with the necessary experience, capabilities, and financial resources to perform the work for the Aceh Road/Bridge Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Project - from Banda Aceh to Calang. This is a full and open competition open to firms from all U.S. non-foreign policy restricted countries, under which any type of organization, large or small, commercial (for profit) firms or non-profit organizations, including government-owned organizations are eligible to compete. Only applicants who pre-qualify will be invited to submit proposals for the contract. Following the devastating tsunami of December, 2004, USAID committed $245 million to rehabilitate and reconstruct the road from Banda Aceh to Meulaboh to restore economic and social fabric of the Aceh Province. The scope of the project collectively will consist of the reconstruction of 104 km of road from Banda Aceh to Calang including 25 bridges and 65 culverts. The reconstructed road shall be 7 meters wide with typically 2-meter shoulders. In addition to the road reconstruction, an additional objective is for employment opportunities and capacity building be provided for the Acehnese. Hence, the construction contractor shall endeavor to extend opportunities to Acehnese firms and individuals as much as feasible.
