- Description
- The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center San Diego intends to award a firm fixed price commercial purchase order to Boeing on a sole source basis for a mobile automated ultrasonic scanner system (MAUS V) PN 257N14500 plus components, upgrades to existing MAUS IV systems, and onsite training for NAVAIR North Island. Components consist of A2 MAUS Electronics with all inspection modes, B1 Commercial laptop computer with software, D5 variable stroke scanner, D6 flexible track scanner, C1 pulse echo sensor set (5 mhz), C2 Resonance sensor set (260 mhz), E1 phased array subsystem, E5 coupler supply system. The contractor will also upgrade existing MAUS IV Scanners to MAUS V Scanners (2 each) and provide MAUS V onsite training with instructor. Delivery is about 4 months after date of order. Commercial procedures will be used. The Navy intends to award this requirement to Boeing on a sole source basis because only Boeing can provide a mobile automated ultrasonic scanner system with a phased array subsystem capable of nondestructive inspection testing on the F/A-18 A-F aircraft. Furthermore, only Boeing has the ability to perform the equipment upgrades to existing MAUS IV systems currently in use at the Naval Aviation Depot San Diego. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement or to submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received before 1300 on Monday 20 November 2006 will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this requiement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
