Description
The 853rd Electronic Systems Group (ELSG), 641st Electronic Systems Squadron (ELSS), wishes to identify potential contractors for Land-based JPALS Increment 3 Technology Development (TD). This increment of Land-based capability must provide fixed and mobile precision approach and landing systems that support 100 ft decision height (DH) and ? statute mile (sm) visibility (Category II minima). The system must also support auto-land capability for suitably equipped aircraft (to include Army, Navy and Air Force aircraft) and must be FAA certifiable (able to pass an FAA flight check). Land-based JPALS must also support civil interoperability with Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) Category II. The overarching objective of the TD effort is to identify and mature the critical technologies necessary to support a Category II/III precision approach capability. These technologies must be matured to a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 (reference the DoD Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA) Deskbook, dated May 2005). The preliminary critical technologies are: Global Positioning System (GPS) Sensor System (antenna, antenna electronics and receiver), the detection and mitigation of GPS threats; navigation solution integrity, and integrity monitoring. Specific work activities for the Land-based JPALS Increment 3 TD are: (1) Support the development and validation of performance requirements for Category II precision approach. (2) Support the identification of critical technologies and plans to mature each technology to TRL 6. (3) Conduct the necessary analysis, modeling and simulation, and testing to mature each critical technology to TRL 6, including performance in the presence of the most current GPS threat environments.
