Description
NASA/ JSC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the manufacture of the NASA Standard Initiator (NSI-1). The manufacture of the NSI shall be in accordance with the Statement of Work (SOW) and the Design and Performance Specification for the NSI-1, which will be set forth in the Request for Proposal. Each NSI shall include the following components: 1. Body assembly design shall include electrical connector 2. Electrical header with two pins (one bridgewire) 3. Charge Cup 4. Pyrotechnic charge 5. Insulating disks and washer 6. End closure 7. Weld washer (as required) 8. All hardware required to complete assembly, including sealing materials and internal ?O? rings All details of the initiator shall provide for maximum reliability, safety of personnel, minimum weight and maximum operating utility. A company must be currently certified by NASA to provide the NASA Standard Initiator in order to be considered a responsible party with respect to this action. All proposals from responsible parties will be considered. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial device using FAR Part 12. The SIC Code and Size Standard are 325920 and 750 employees, respectively. The DPAS rating for this action is DO-C9. The anticipated release date of the RFP is on or about January 10, 2007. Proposals shall be due on or about February 9, 2007. An ombudsman has been appointed- See Internet note ?B?. The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application. The Internet site, or URL, for the NASA/JSC Business Opportunities home page is http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=D&pin=73 Prospective offerors shall notify this office of their intent to submit an offer. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor the Internet site for the release of the solicitation and amendments (if any).
