Description
The Product Manager- Clothing and Individual Equipment (PM-CIE) at the Natick Soldier System Center, Natick, MA is conducting a market investigation to identify domestic producers, suppliers and manufacturers of Individual Desalinization Technologies (IDT). The IDT shall be able to produce potable water as defined by TB MED 577 from seawater or brackish water. The IDT shall be single man portable, weigh not more than 2 pounds and must be compatible with current and future hydrations systems (Canteens and/or hydration systems). The IDT must not restrict the flow rate of water in a hydration system to less than 200 mL/min and must be able to desalinate 45 liters of water (Manufactures are encouraged to submit their technologies even if they cannot meet t he 45 liter requirement). The IDT shall be capable of being used in any terrain type and climatic conditions. The IDT shall be capable of functioning over the operations temperature range of 32? F to 120? F. The IDT shall not require any special logistical considerations, being supported by the standard Army logistical support system and maintained by user personnel in existing TOE and TDA organizations. The IDT shall comply with applicable safety requirements and present no uncontrolled safety hazards thr oughout their lifecycle. All health hazards associated with the storage, use, and disposal shall be eliminated or reduced to acceptable levels. Manufactures of the IDT shall not be in legal/ regulatory conflict with safety/health, air/water pollution, an d hazardous waste requirements. Interested firms are requested to submit information on their product(s) within sixty (60) days following the publication of this synopsis. Interested sources shall include information detailed in the CBD Note 25 regarding a firms experience, personnel, a nd facilities. Information should include, but not limited too, product cost, technical information (e. g. physical properties, performance characteristics, test methodology (e.g. ASTM, UL), certification/compliance (NFPA, ANSI/OSHA), material identificati on, and MSDS), illustrations and designs, color availability, warranty terms, relevant company background/experience, ISO 9000 certification, and any other information that the company believes demonstrates the value of their product(s) and ability to meet the requirements. Companies are also encouraged to submit samples for evaluation. Any information/samples submitted will not be returned, and no payment will be made by the Government for such samples.
