- Description
- The purpose of this modification is to amend the synopsis for solicitation number N61331-07-R-0016 which was originally advertised on or about 12/11/06. This modification corrects the item being purchased from SCBA Air Cylinders to SCBA Supplied Air Respirators as outlined below: The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City intends to issue a sole source contract to Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) Federal Government Sales, 3880 Meadowbrook Road, Murrysville, PA for the procurement of sixty (60) each 13.4 ft air respirators for the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus. The SCBA is a Type C, pressure-demand respirator system with an emergency air supply of 15 minutes. This procurement is sole source for the following reasons. The SCBA is a PremAire Cadet 15M Respirator that is only manufactured by the Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) Company. The respirators being acquired are the only approved respirators for the Premaire 15M cylinder. Only those articles that have been successfully tested are qualified. Procedures are specified under SS521-AA-MAN-010 U.S. Navy Diving and Manned Hyperbaric Certification Manual. The objective of this process is to verify that the life support system provides acceptable levels of safety throughout the specified operatin g range when approved operating and maintenance procedures are followed. The intent of the process is to provide maximum reasonable assurance that an accident will not occur. MSA is the only company that has been qualified by cognizant authority to provide the air respirators for the SCBA. Other sources interested in having their items qualified for future acquisitions should contact Mark Black at (850) 234-4452. Delivery will be to the Naval Support Activity - Panama City, Receiving Officer, Building 100, 101 Vernon Avenue, Panama City, FL 32407-7018. FSC 4220. NAICS: 339999. SBA Size Standard: 500 employees Award will be base on responsive proposal. Anticipated award date will be on or about April 11, 2007.
