- The Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Colorado Region, Boulder City, NV, has a requirement for the overhaul/rebabbitt of the A7 Upper and Lower Generator Guide Bearings located at Hoover Dam, Boulder City, NV. All work shall be performed in accordance with the Bureau of Reclamation criteria, methods, and procedures and the general specifications contained in the Statement of Work. All Offerors must have at least five years of experience in manufacturing and repair of hydro-electric turbine generator bearings and be familiar with the principles of hydro-dynamic bearings. It is required that the Contractor recondition (rebabbitt, tolerance restoration, and modifications) cast steel shell turbine guide bearings, for use with Hoover Generating Unit A7, in accordance with the Statement of Work and drawings (that will be included in the Request for Quote to be issued shortly). The bearing weights vary between approximately 2300 and 4200 pounds. A detailed drawing will be attached for each bearing in the Request for Quote. The Contractor shall return the old bearing to original tolerances. This will require that the exterior locating bosses to be restored by adding a steel spacer via screws and machining them to proper fits and concentricity. All splits shall be machined true and flat prior to any babbitt repair work. All bolts and dowels shall be furnished and replaced after the holes have been reamed to the correct tolerances shown on the drawings. The Contractor shall be required to fabricate babbitt bond gauge blocks as specified. The bearing must be picked up from, rehabilitated and returned, to Hoover Dam Central Warehouse, Boulder City, NV. IT IS MANDATORY THAT THE WORK BE COMPLETED AND THE BEARINGS RETURNED TO HOOVER DAM NO LATER THAN MARCH 16, 2007. THE ANTICIPATED AWARD DATE IS FEBRUARY 9, 2007. This requirement is being procured under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is set-aside for small businesses. The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) code is 333611. The size standard is 1,000 employees. It is anticipated that a Request for Quote (RFQ) will be issued on or about January 25, 2007, and awarded on or about February 9, 2007; however, all dates in this announcement are subject to change. The RFQ will be issued via www.fedbizopps.gov. A Request for Quote is being issued to facilitate submittal of quotes through electronic commerce, and to view all applicable clauses and attachements. Vendors are reminded that they must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration to be considered for award. Vendors can register at www.ccr.gov.
