- NASA Headquarters (HQ), Office of Education, plans to participate in the 2007 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference in order to involve the educational community in our endeavors to inspire America?s students, create learning opportunities, enlighten inquisitive minds, and promote awareness of NASA-related disciplines. As part of our sponsorship, NASA will be a major participant in the CIAA Career Fair and contributor to the General Academic Scholarship Fund. The 2007 CIAA is scheduled for February 26-March 3, 2007 in the City of Charlotte. Therefore, NASA HQ intends to issue a Sole Source Procurement to the CIAA as a corporate sponsoring for the CIAA Conference-Career Fair and General Academic Scholarship Fund. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The authority is only one responsible source 10U.S.C.2304(c)(1). NASA/HQ intends to award a purchase order for specialized services to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing, by FAX or E-Mail, to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on February 8, 2007. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
