- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has a requirement for comprehensive waste management services which encompass collection and removal of general solid waste and refuse; collection, treatment, transport and disposal of regulated medical pathological waste; and collection, recovery, removal and recycling of recyclable materials. The contractor is responsible for furnishing all necessary management, personnel, equipment, materials and supplies, not otherwise furnished by the Government. Approximately 12,000 tons of solid wastes are generated annually by the NIH and 1,000 tons of medical pathological wastes. NIH recycles approximately 31% of the solid waste stream annually. Services shall be provided on the NIH main campus located in Bethesda, MD; the NIH Animal Center located in Poolesville, MD; and satellite facilities located in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. This acquisition is being solicited using full and open competition. The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) is 562111; the average annual receipt is $11.5 million. The Government anticipates award of a fixed-price, indefinite delivery (requirements) type contract. The resultant contract shall be for a period of one year commencing on or about October 1, 2007 and include four successive 12-month option periods. Solicitation number 263-2007-P(GG)-0047 will be posted to the Federal Business Opportunities website, http://www.fedbizopps.gov, on or about February 22, 2007. The closing date for receipt of proposals is April 24, 2007. There will be a pre-proposal conference on or about March 2, 2007. Specific information concerning the pre-proposal conference will be included in the solicitation. All future information regarding this acquisition, including amendments, will be distributed solely through this website. Hard copies of the solicitation will not be available.
