Description
The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC intends to award a firm fixed priced purchase order on a competitive basis the purchase of a Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM). The FESEM shall have a resolution of at least 2.2nm at 1kV and 1.4nm at 15kV. It shall have in-lens backscatter and secondary electron detectors. It shall be equipped with an electron dispersive spectrometer (EDS) capable of fast, high resolution x-ray mapping. The FESEM, its software and its attachments shall be robust, require little maintenance, and be easy to use. It shall allow for on-site future integration of attachments and software and hardware up-grades. The FESEM shall be capable of high resolution imaging and EDS of a variety of materials, in powder and bulk forms, such as ceramics (both oxide and non-oxide), metallics, organics and electron beam sensitive materials such as energetics. The FESEM shall have a precision motorized sample stage with at least five axis movement. This instrument is intended for high resolution imaging and EDS analysis if both nanophase and nanostructured materials. The FESEM shall be capable of simultaneous imaging using from multiple detectors. It shall be resistant to vibration, acoustic, and electromagnetic influences. It should include a STEM attachment. It should also include a cold stage for electron beam sensitive materials such as energetics. A FESEM that can operate under different pressures depending on sample requirements is preferred. All the necessary hardware, software and step-by-step operating manuals to accomplish these tasks shall be included. Contractor shall submit cost proposal in either electronic PDF or Word format or hardcopy to ckallis@pica.army.mil.
