Description
The Northern Region Contracting Center (NRCC) intends to procure support services to provide the U.S. Army Engineer School, Fort Leonard Wood, MO, with the training of Mine Detection Dogs (MDD) and their handlers utilizing Department of Defense (DOD) approved techniques. The Contractor shall be responsible for: 1. Providing training to students and dogs in the tactical use of MDDs in a military operational environment, to include, the conduct of area and route clearance operations, and casualty evacua tion. 2. Providing instruction on odor imprinting, operational theory, sustainment training for mission proficiency and use, and care of dog handling and safety equipment. 3. Instructing using the content and the best methods, practices, and procedures f ound in the United Kingdom (UK) Army mine dog training course, the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) published by the United Nations (UN), standards established by the U.S. Army Engineer School (USAES), and found in Army Special Text 20-23-12, whi le using accepted dog-training practices that will include humane treatment and behavior modification correction techniques for dogs. 4. Documented MDD training experience in a U.S. or British military environment and demonstrated expertise/documented kno wledge of UK and UN working dog standards and training methods. This includes training certificates from a Government recognized dog training facility. This action will be solicited on a full and open competition for a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract. T he applicable NAICS Code is 812910, Pet Care (except Veterinary) Services with a Business Size Standard of $6.5M. The period of performance will be a base plus (4) four option years for a total of 60 months.
