- The Library of Congress, Integrated Support Services/Health Services Office is searching to award a contract for a Nurse Practitioner and Occupational Health Nurse, respectively for approximately 4,500 employees, contractors and visitors using the occupational health services clinic of the Libary of Congress. These include: respond to sometimes life-threatening medical emergencies, to provide care on an as needed basis for treatments prescribed by personal physicians, appropriate medical record documentation and maintenance of employee health records. Description: NURSE PRACTITIONER POSITION - ONE YEAR CONTRACT EMPLOYMENT The Health Services Office( HSO) is the primary health office for approximately 4,500 employees and contractors of the Library of Congress. The Library is located in three buildings on Capitol Hill and in outlying facilities including: Taylor Street, Crystal City, Landover, Ft. Meade, and Culpeper. The Office also provides emergency care to employees, contractors, and visitors to the Library. HSO is seeking to contract for a year, with a nurse practitioner to perform focused and job related physical examinations, provide care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, diagnose and provide treatment for illnesses/injuries, administer medications and treatments prescribed by personal physicians, maintain health records, and evaluate test results. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. The work schedule is a flexible 40 hours per week. MAJOR DUTIES As a nurse practitioner, the candidate shall: ? actively and independently function in assessing, planning, and implementing individual health care plans for staff members. ? obtain and evaluate the health history ? perform or request diagnostic tests and interpret the results ? recognize symptoms of potentially serious physical or emotional problems and develop an appropriate course of action ? perform job-related and focused physical examinations ? perform emergency, life-saving techniques ? identify and treat illnesses and injuries ? refer appropriately to a health-care provider ? conduct follow-up to ensure compliance with plan of care and evaluate effectiveness of plan ? recommend and organize wellness and health maintenance programs ? conduct or recommend training for patients and/or peers ? work closely with the Compensation Manager to provide the medical management of the provisions of the Federal Employee Compensation Act In addition to the above major duties, the candidate should be CPR and ACLS certified. Certification as a nurse practitioner must be current. The candidate should have a current license as a registered nurse and a nurse practitioner in the District of Columbia or has applied for and is waiting for these licenses at the time of contract. -Occupational Health Nurse - ONE BASE YEAR WITH FOUR OPTIONS The Health Services Office( HSO) is the primary health office for approximately 4,500 employees and contractors of the Library of Congress. The Library is located in three buildings on Capitol Hill and in outlying facilities including: Taylor Street, Crystal City, Landover, Ft. Meade, and Culpeper. The Office also provides emergency care to employees, contractors, and visitors to the Library. HSO is seeking contract nurse to provide care on an as needed basis for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, administer medications and treatments prescribed by personal physicians, maintain health records and respond to medical emergencies. The candidate should demonstrate command of the English language that allows him/her to communicate effectively orally and in writing. The Health Services Office (HSO) requests approval and sole source procurement of the temporary nursing services from vendor, to provide the Library of Congress with occupational health nursing support as needed for one base year with four (4) option years. MAJOR DUTIES All nurses assigned to the Library HSO shall: ? function in assessing, planning, and implementing individual health care plans for staff members ? obtain and evaluate the health history ? recognize symptoms of potentially serious physical or emotional problems and develop an appropriate course of action ? perform focused examinations related to chief complaint ? perform emergency, life-saving techniques ? identify and treat illnesses and injuries ? refer appropriately to a health-care provider In addition to the above major duties, all nurses considered for assignment must have current clinical- med-surg experience. Occupational Health, Emergency Room or ICU experience is a plus. All nurses considered for assignment to the Health Services Office must be CPR certified. In addition, all nurses considered for assignment should have a current license as a registered nurse in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia at the time of contract. The work schedule is flexible, and ranges from 4 to 40 hours per week depending on workload and program activities. We request to review the resume of assigned nurse prior to accepting for assignment. -Award will be based on the following factors: 1. Key Personnel 2. Pass Performance 3. Demonstrated the understanding of and responsiveness to the specific requirement identified. 4. Demonstrated recent experience as a Nurse Practitioner and Occupational Health Nurse respectively. 5. Candidate must be CPR and ACLS certified 6. A current license as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner respectively, in the District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia. The offeror shall provide resumes for the key personnel. The offeror shall submit the names, address, and phone numbers of three (3) references. The offer must have performed/completed the work with each of the references within the last three years and the contact information must be current. All offerors are required to submit a price for the initial year and plus four options years. The price must be based on Hourly Rate at 40 hours per week (8 hours a day).
