- The Project Manager for Maneuver Ammunition Systems (PM-MAS), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is currently seeking sources for the production, testing, inspection, packaging and delivery of .50 Caliber Short Range Training Ammunition (SRTA) Cartridges in a .50 Cal M858 Ball and M860 Tracer Plastic linked 4:1 (M858:M860) configuration. These cartridges provide the ability to increase the frequency of training and hence the proficiency of the user by allowing training in areas previously closed by range restrictions. The cartridges are designed to be used in the Caliber .50 M2 machine gun with a M3 Recoil Adapter. The maximum safety range is 700 meters and the effective training range is 150 meters. The Tracer cartridge exhibits a visible trace up to 150 meters. The cartridges shall conform to the requirements of Drawing number 12598607 and MIL-PRF-70723 (Draft dated 22 January 2004). The approximate quantities for FY08 will be approximately 1.4M (+/- 15%); FY09 will be approximately 1.5M (+/- 15%) and FY10-12 will be approximately 1.2M for each fiscal year (+/- 15%). All responsible interested sources are encouraged to submit their capabilities/qualification data. The respondent???s capabilities information must demonstrate a capability for high rate production and delivery of these cartridges. The qualification data should include information stating if a qualified design is already approved by the Government and if any revisions, modifications or changes to the previously qualified design have been made since verification testing. The respondent must provide documentation listing all proposed changes and if the data was generated by independent test agencies. In order to obtain copies of the Drawing 12598607 and MIL-PRF-70723 (Draft dated 22 January 2004), interested parties must submit their request to the undersigned.
