Description

The Uniformed Services University of the Health and Sciences (USUHS), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106-4(b)(1), with Data Sciences for a complete monitoring system that uses implantable transmitters that allow the measurement of blood pressure, ECG and temperature together in conscious freely moving small animals and the accompanying software. These items are necessary in order to perform research on the brain mechanisms that mediate the increase in sympathetic nervous system activity and blood pressure induced by systemic inflammation. These items are being procured as a commercial item in accordance with the procedures in FAR 12 ? Acquisition of Commercial Items and Far 13 ? Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Sole Source determination is based on Data Sciences being the only company producing implantable transmitters that allow researchers to measure blood pressure, ECG and temperature together in conscious freely moving small animals. This is not a request for quote. However, all interested parties may contact the Contracting Officer. Sources interested in responding to this requirement must be able to provide convincing evidence that they can provide a complete monitoring system that uses implantable transmitters that allow the measurement of Blood Pressure, ECG and temperature together in conscious freely moving small animals and the accompanying software. Responses must be in writing and must be received in the office by 22 March 2007.
