- Description
- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMAITON (RFI) ONLY. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this synopsis or to otherwise pay for the information solicited under this synopsis. This is NOT a request for proposal or an invitation for bid, merely a request for information only. The Government is interested in obtaining information from industry regarding a modification to an existing fiberglass cover on an existing L3 Communications Brashear KINETO Tracking Mount (KTM) Weibel radar system. Because of the size of the radar the original fiberglass cover will not fit over the KTM/radar. The radar protrudes out from the fiberglass cover about a foot on each side. The height of the KTM/radar to where it meets the base of the cover is 72.5? and the fiberglass cover is 79? tall. There should be ample height on the fiberglass cover to accommodate the radar. The radar with the bracket is about a foot wide where it protrudes from the cover. Total estimated surface area on one side that needs extending is 3 square feet (6 square feet for both sides). The fiberglass cover is about 20 years old (refurbished about one year ago) and has a double wall of fiberglass over unknown honeycomb core. The thickness of the wall is 1 inch to give the cover straight and provide rigidity. The fiberglass cover comes in two halves and is manually pulled up on the KTM/radar trailer to provide for a weather resistance cover (commonly referred to as clamshells). Where the clamshells meet, the walls are shaped into a mounted fiberglass flange that houses the weather resistance gasket. The locking position for the radar on the KTM to secure it for transportation is along the axis where the two halves of the clamshells meet. It is most likely that both halves of the clamshells will have to be modified and the weather resistance flange/gasket will be extended around the modification. Some hardware will have to be relocated to accommodate the extension. Photo will be provided on request to the POC. Responses shall be limited to 15 pages and should include, as a minimum evidence of past experience, related projects and/or existing projects, etc, and business size. Interested parties need to identify if t hey fall into one of the following categories: large business, small business, hubzone small business, veteran owned small business, woman owned small business, or small disadvantaged business. All respondents that can provide any of the requested information should reply to Mike Sikorski at the following email address: Michael.sikorsiki@edwards.af.mil or by mail to 412 TW/ENRE, 306 E Popson Avenue, Edwards AFB, CA 93524.
