- The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) is seeking to obtain a contract for legal services needed to protect its interest in the sale or restructuring of an automobile industry firm (should that occur), issues related to pensions and workforce reductions, and any negotiations and related litigation that affect the interest of PBGC. The contractor shall provide contract counsel with expertise in, but not limited to the following: the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA); the automobile industry; securities law and complex corporate transactions; labor law; liens and secured transactions; negotiation and documentation relating to large-scale non-bankruptcy restructuring arrangements; procedure and practice in Federal Bankruptcy; laws pertaining to corporate governance and responsibilities in the federal Republic of Germany; and U. S. bankruptcy law. Other areas of expertise may include assisting PBGC in reviewing and evaluating asset information and financial projections of a firm; performing relevant research; preparing and filing court documents. The contract will be for an estimated period of performance of a base year and two one-year options with an estimated start date of mid-June. The estimated issue date of this solicitation is within the week of May 14, 2007.
