Description
Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) intends to award a new contract to link and package 30mm PGU-15/B Target Practice (TP) ammunition currently held as Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV) 30mm PGU-15/B TP assets. MARCORSYSCOM will issue a competitive solicitation limited to Alliant Techsystems (ATK) and General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), resulting in a fixed price contract award. The PGU-15/B TP cartridge is used on the MK-44, 30mm Gun System that is currently on the EFV. The Program Manager Advanced Amphibious Assault (PM AAA) owns PGU-15/B cartridges, but they are in the Air Force?s configuration (NSN 1305-01-093-3338) and are unlinked. PM AAA has a requirement to reconfigure 222,000 of these rounds for use in the EFV?s Gun System. The contractor will be required to procure MK-15 ammunition links, M592 metal cans, foam inserts and associated packaging material required to package this ammunition in accordance with Automated Data Li st (ADL) 53711-7624864, required for Navy and Marine Corps 30mm ammunition. Government owned ammunition, currently packaged in a configuration useable only for A-10 aircraft, will be provided to the manufacturer as Government Furnished Material (GFM). The contractor will be required to de-tube the ammunition (as it comes in the Air Forces A-10 packaging configuration), inspect the ammunition to ensure serviceability, and then place the ammunition into MK-15 links. The linked ammunition will then be placed in the foam protective cushioning and then into a M592 metal can (two 15-round belts will be placed into each can). The 30-round packed configuration will be palletized in accordance with ADL 53711-7624864. The contractor will be authorized to use the standard 40 x 48 wooden pallet rather than the MK3 metal pallet to reduce the cost of this project. The contractor will be required to procure an additional 10,000 MK-15 links and ship them to NSWC Crane, IN. The appli cable National Stock Number (NSN) for the reconfigured ammunition to b e delivered is 1305-01-525-8642, Ctg, 30mm PGU-15/B Linked, DODIC AA94. Numbered Note 22 applies to this acquisition.
