- Description
- This hereby amends Solicitation Number SB1341-07-RQ-0207 to answer questions from industry. The questions and answers are as follows: QUESTION: Item 8. Because you will be using the MPA-3 Multiparameter Data System, we would propose not including digitized outputs on the Model 2401B Position Analyzer, but only the analog X and Y outputs. The digital versions for the MPA-3 would be produced by external NIM ADC's ? they interface to the MPA-3 more easily than do our internal digitizer outputs so we suggest going that way. And, our internal digitizers have a longer add-on deadtime than the external NIM ones. Is that acceptable? ANSWER: This is acceptable. Item # 8 simply requires that a computer will record the events detected by the MCP/Encoder, and that a real-time clock is used to get better timing resolution (about 50 ns)--better than can be provided by the computer clock. Current applications do not require digitized outputs via external NIM ADC's. However, the option for such an upgrade in the future is a desired feature. QUESTION: Item 8/10. The time of arrival signal (any better than 500 nsec uncertainty) has to be developed from an MCP timing signal obtained from the last MCP in the detector by a special optional pickoff circuit (simple decoupling network). This low level signal has to be carefully processed by a preamp (inverting), a CFD, TAC/ADC and then fed to the third input parameter of the MPA-3 for recording, as you mention in the RFQ. Are these items (preamp, CFD, TAC/ADC, timing cables etc) to be included or not in the quote? ANSWER: No, the components necessary for sub-nanosecond timing are NOT to be included in the quote. Item # 10 is intended for future upgrades. NIST requires a system which can be upgraded to higher timing precision, but this is for future development. Item # 10 requires this possibility, but the components associated with item # 10 are NOT included in this requisition. QUESTION: Item 12. HV Divider/HV power supply. Do you want these included in the quote? ANSWER: Yes, both HV divider and the HV power supply should be included in the quote. The HV divider is for the 40mm diameter MCP/RAE with 3 MCP for high resolution. The power supply must range 0 to 4 kV with 3 mA rating, NIM module type with digital display. All other terms and conditions remain the same. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (13-JUN-2007); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
