Description

The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Ceramics Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Princeton Instruments, of Trenton, NJ for a Digital CCD Spectroscopy System. Sole source determination is based on the following: NIST currently utilizes an existing Princeton Instruments Spectrometer. The Digital CCD Spectroscopy System being purchased must be 100 percent compatible with the existing Princeton Instruments hardware and software, along with the existing Princeton Instruments Spectrometer. The software and hardware are proprietary to Princeton Instruments. The purchase of the Digital CCD Spectroscopy System from Princeton Instruments will ensure 100 percent compatibility with the existing systems. The system will consist of a CCD Array Photodetector, including control software, which will be attached to the existing Princeton Instruments Spectrometer and must run together. It is crucial for the combined equipment to be operated via a single software package. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by July 09, 2007 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
