Description
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) intends to negotiate solely with Steris Corporation, located at Mentor, OH to obtain the Equipment Number SF0211011240000000, Scientific Century Series 20x20x38 Sterilizer; Equipment Number SE011102, install 20" Century/Lab 250/110 Sters; and Equipment Number FV021004, Loading Car, Transfer Carriage and Track Assembly for Single Door Unit. FSIS lab requires a large chamber floor standing autoclave (sterilizer) capable of utilizing in-house steam supply and fitted with a back-up electrical steam generator. Steris Corporation is the only known source who can provide this equipment. The prospective procurement will be a Firm Fixed Price contract. The sterilizer unit must be compatible with FSIS's existing equipment to allow for interchangeability of ancillary and supporting equipment. The list of existing equipment is as follows: AMSCO Eagle 200 Sterilizer and Steam Generator; AMSCO Eagle/Century SV-120; AMSCO Eagle/Century SV-120 and Steam Generator; AMSCO Eagle/Century SV-120 and Steam Generator; and AMSCO Eagle/Century SV-120 and Steam Generator. The supporting equipment includes carts, racks and rails that load and unload material in and out of the sterilizer and is specifically engineered to work with existing autoclaves (sterilizers). In addition, the sterilizer requires the placement of FSIS lab's current hardware and installation software that is proprietary to the Steris Corporation. The hardware and software is to be integrated into the new sterilizer unit. The hardware and software only operates with Steris Corporation's equipment. This procurement will be conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302.1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253( c ) (1). The equipment is to be shipped to the following location: St. Louis, MO. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Request for copies of this solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. The Government does not intend to pay for information received. All interested parties must respond within ten (10) calendar days from the date of this notice. Written responses must provide clear and concise documentation indicating your firm's capability to provide the proprietary equipment. Verbal responses are not acceptable and will not be considered. When responding to this announcement, respondents should refer to Announcement FSIS-28-B-07. If after July 20, 2007, no viable responses have been received in response to this announcement, USDA/FSIS shall negotiate solely with Steris Corporation.
