Description
The Federal Aviation Administration intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed price contract for the Drainage Modification of the Runway 9R Localizer/Runway 27L ALSF-2 Facility servicing O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois. The Contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, and equipment to perform the project in accordance with the contract provisions, specifications and drawings. The work consists of, but not limited to, the following: 1. Install three storm water structure catch basins. One catch basin will be installed to the northeast, northwest and southwest of the existing building. Connect the northeast basin to the existing catch basin on southeast. Connect all catch basins with a perforated pipe (interceptor drain). The southwest and northwest basins are to connect to a new culvert (with flared ends) beneath road and outlet south of the access road. 2. Install drainpipe from the northeast basin to the east side of the plot (east of existing CECo sentionalizer) to provide an additional outlet to drain for the catch basin system. 3. Fill the existing drainage ditch to the north and west of the building (approximately 15 feet away). 4. Install new Drainage Interceptor ditch to the north and west of the building. 5. Install a "French" drain tile system around the perimeter of the building. Connect this drain pipe to the new interceptor ditch. 6. Install a new culvert beneath (with flared ends) the access road to connect to the new southwest catch basin. 7. Installing erosion controlling materials to drainage ditch installed along the south side of the access road. This will entail placing riprap over geotextile from the culvert outlet east to snow road. 8. Miscellaneous civil and electrical work as described in the drawings and specifications. The work will be performed in strict accordance with the contract drawings and specifications. Contract performance time is 60 calendar days, with an anticipated start date of project as August 28, 2007. The estimated price range for this procurement is between $100,000 and $250,000. NAICS is 237990. INTERESTED FIRMS MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED SIMILAR PROJECTS BOTH IN DOLLAR AMOUNT AND SCOPE OF WORK AT AN OPERATIONAL AIRPORT. THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS WILL BE FURNISHED TO THE FIRST TEN (10) GENERAL CONTRACTORS WHO RESPOND TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. General contractors must submit their interest in subject project on letterhead and include the firm's name, address, phone number, fax number, and point of contact by no later than August 7, 2007, 2:00 p.m. (CDT). This notice is for informational purposes for Minority, Women-Owned, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, has programs to assist small businesses, small businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and women-owned concerns to acquire capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, payment, and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT short Term receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $750,000.
