Description
The FAA intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed price contract for the Resurfacing of the Parking Lot of the TRACON located in Elgin, IL. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment in accordance with the contract provisions, specifications and drawings. The work shall include, but is not limited to, the following: Resurface the Northeast(back), West(side) parking lot and improve drainage, and an alternate to resurface the South(Front) Parking lot: 1. Mill (remove) approximately 11,700 square yards (SY) of the existing asphaltic pavement to a depth of 2-inches. Once off site, material will become the property of the contractor. 2. Where directed on drawings, approximately 580 square yards, remove remaining asphalt. Reshape area gravel and add gravel if needed. Compact aggregate base meeting the compaction and gradation requirements of Illinois DOT standard specifications. During paving operations, construct an asphalt leveling layer over base prior to surface layer. Asphalt leveling layer must meet or exceed Illinois DOT standard specifications for density, compaction, asphalt content, air content, and aggregate gradation. 3. Remove and replace 110' feet of 5.5 foot-wide (605 square feet) concrete sidewalk and B6-12 curb and gutter along east edge of side parking lot. Replace concrete sidewalk and B6-12 curb and gutter to new grades; this work will require work to improve drainage. Grade, compact and seed area as required. 4. Furnish and install (2) 4' catch basins w/ frame and grate to match existing. Furnish and install 300' of 12" RCP storm sewer pipe connecting to the existing drain in the front lot. 5. Repair and patch approximately 6100 L.F. of cracks in various locations after pavement is milled, Clean sweep and spray parking lot with bit. Tack coat at a rate of .1 gallons per square yard. Place reflective crack control fabric (Petromat) over entire milled area. 6. Construct 2-inch hot mix asphalt (HMA) pavement structure consisting of a wedge/leveling layer and a surface layer. Asphalt meet or exceed Illinois DOT standard specifications for density, compaction, asphalt content, air content, and aggregate gradation. 7. After allowing new asphalt surface to cure for a minimum of 30 days, apply one coat of penetrating primer and two coats of sand-slurry sealer. 8. After seal coat cures, paint parking stalls, arrows, and other pavement markings as shown on project drawings. 9. Repair sinkhole in back parking lot as shown on drawings. This will require repairing or replacing sub-drain. 10. ALTERNATE 1: Resurface Front lot the same as the back and side lots. Mill 2", place reflective crack control and pave front parking lot and driveway as shown on drawings. 6500 SY Contract performance time is estimated at 30 days, with an anticipated start of September 2007. The estimated price range for this procurement is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00. NAICS is 238990. INTERESTED FIRMS MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED SIMILAR PROJECTS BOTH IN DOLLAR AMOUNT AND WORK SCOPE OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS. THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS WILL BE FURNISHED TO THE FIRST TEN GENERAL CONTRACTORS WHO RESPOND TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT.
