Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Coordinating Center for Infectious Diseases (CCID), National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), Division of Viral Diseases (DVD) is seeking to award a sole source commercial Purchase Order for one (1) each Applied Biosystems Big Dye Terminator reaction kit in the 5000 reaction size Part No. 4337452, and one (1) each 5X concentrate sequencing reaction buffer compatible with the Big Dye kit Part No. 4336699. In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, the Government has determined that Applied Biosystems, Foster City, CA, is the only responsible source to satisfy this requirement. The Government has established specific protocols and methods using ABI reagents for sequence analysis to ensure that we satisfy the World Health Organization (WHO) accreditation requirement that we process specimens and report results in a 28 day window. Changing to another vendor at this time would require that we re-evaluate all of our analysis procedures and verify the results against our current methods resulting in unacceptable delays to ongoing lab work. Subject to availability of funds, the Government intends to Request quotes on 27 August, with award by 15 September 2007. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the requirement are encouraged to identify themselves and provide written notification to the Contracting Officer within fifteen (15) days from the date of this synopsis. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
