- *****IMPORTANT NOTICE, CONTACT JANET APPLETON ONLY FOR TECHNICALLY ISSUES REGARDING THIS NOTICE, CONTACT INFORMATION IS WITHIN THE BODY OF THIS NOTICE****** NASA/MSFC has a requirement to upgrade an existing Scientific Atlanta 400 foot range located at Marshall Space Flight Center. NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from MI Technologies (formally known as Scientific Atlanta) on a sole source basis. This upgrade is needed to operate the existing Scientific Atlanta 400 foot range equipment and existing software to meet new Ares requirements. The Spherical Nearfield upgrade will support antenna radiation distribution pattern testing on the Ares I Communication System as well as Ares I Range Saftey and Tracking antenna testing. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 8/27/2007 to Janet Appleton at janet.l.appleton@nasa.gov or fax to 256-544-4401. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
