Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, intends to award a brand-name mandatory purchase order for an enterprise-level backup software solution in support of the FAA's Registry Modernization System (RMS). This procurement is considered to be a brand-name mandatory purchase based on the RMS requirements. In addition to the general features and capabilities found in most enterprise-level backup suites, three specific additional functions are required: "bare metal restore;" multiplexing of bandwidth, and automatic retry of failed backup jobs. Based on these requirements, the FAA intends award a purchase order specifying Symantec Netbackup software as brand-name mandatory. Purpose of Announcement: In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System (AMS) Policy 3.2.2.4 and AMS Procurement Guidance T3.2.2.8.A.5, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract via brand-name mandatory purchase order procedures. Inquiries by interested vendors must be submitted to the Contracting Officer no later than Wednesday August 22, 2007, 12:00 p.m. (noon) Central Time.
