Description
This project consists of the construction of a 50 ft long by 6 ft wide trail bridge. Bridge is to have steel girders with timber deck and railings. The project is not located in wilderness and mechanized equipment will be allowed on the site. Work includes but is not limited to minor clearing, structural excavation, concrete, steel and timber assembly and embankments. From Glacier, WA take SR 542 east for approx 12 miles to Silver Silver Fir Campground, take Road #3070 on the left side of the highway through parking lot, for about 1.9 miles then take Road #3070020 located uphill to the right to the bridge site. Estimated issue date of the solicitation is early September 2007. Estimated start work date is approx October 15, 2007. Project to be completed no later than July 31, 2008. The Governments estimated price range is between $25,000 and $100,000. Payment security will be required from the contractor if awarded this project. This project is funded by Title II of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 where funds are paid to counties with federal land for use on roads and schools. Offers will be evaluated on the basis of the benefit to the Local Community (in this case, Whatcom County). This evaluation factor is slightly more important than cost or price.
