Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, Eastern Region in Reston, VA has a requirement to make a competitive award via written request for quotation No. 07ERQQ0197 to provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support, database management, digital data collection and compilation activities, and publication support for several ongoing projects in the USGS Eastern Mineral Resources Team. The period of performance is 12 months. Work activities include: the creation and maintenance of GIS databases, digital processing of imagery and paper map source data, the production and analysis of spatial models using a variety of spatial data sets, along with the ability to write, present, and produce findings in publication format. The preparation and distribution of publication data, the ability to gather, analyze and document research techniques and findings in technical writing form, the presentation of research at conferences or meetings, and providing technical assistance to fellow team members is also likely. THIS AWARD WILL BE MADE UNDER THE SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION PROCEDURES. As authorized by the USC 50d, the USGS may contract with educational institutions or nonprofit organizations for the temporary or intermittent services of students or recent graduates.
