- Description
- The purpose of this amendment is to provide questions and answers on this project. i. If dirt is excavated, it shall be disposed of in the landfill? On the base or at the county landfill? The base landfill. ii. Drainage requirements? If the soil does not perc, slope to drain and then run drainage to a headwall. How will we determine whether or not the soil percs. This information is normally determined by DPW. DPW responded that the contractor will be requ ired to do their own perc test on the site. There are issues with this, unless further notified please assume drainage requirements are not an issue. iii. What is the deck height you want for the slides? This is appropriate for a 2-5 structure, but not challenging or interesting to a 5-12 yo. Please disregard early specification for 36 slides and design playground slides that will are appropriate for the different age groups. iv. Poured in place rubber might not be what you want. It will wear out under the swings. Interlocking tiles which have a 10 year warranty would be a recommendation. The warranty on the poured in place is only a couple of years. The customer has reques ted that quotes be prepared with a price for the poured in place rubber, with an alternative pricing for the rubber interlocking tiles. v. How many bays are required? (There are 2 seats per bay, and they must be the same to meet code-so, 2 ADA would be in one bay, 2 infant would be an additional bay, 2 belt seats an additional bay, etc.) The Government is wishing to purchase playground e quipment to accommodate children with or without disabilities from ages 2-12. The minimum requirement is two swings, however, it is doubtful that 2 swings would be able satisfy the different age groups. Please provide an offer for all items requested tha t will satisfy all of the age groups. vi. What base do you want under the poured in place rubber surfacing, concrete or stone? The Government has not expressed a preference, we are requesting only industry standard. vii. What color content is preferred for the rubber surfacing? No preferred color. viii. Is wood fiber acceptable for the swing area? No. ix. Do you want the entire 150 x 150 area to have safety surfacing, or only the area needed for the fall zone requirements? No the entire area is not applicable, only the area used for the playground. x. Is it okay to have the swings and the playground area separated? They need to be in one general area, the children should not have to leave one play area to go to another. xi. Do you want any roof tops on the play structure? No. xii. Submission of quotes shall be forwarded by Friday, September 21, 2007 at 12:00 pm. Please provide the following information with your offer: The playground is in compliance with ADA and playground industry, and that it meets the requirements of a Bou ndless Playground (Not requesting a Boundless Playground). Also please show how the playground will accommodate 80-100 children, age level 2-12, and accommodate wheel chairs and walking sticks.
