Description
SUBJECT: NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE PROCUREMENT DESC: Under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1, it is the Governments intent to award a sole source to Southern Research Institute (SRI), 431 Aviation Way, Frederick, MD 21701-4756 for th e service of providing animal support for the ITLIR Research Project. This is a Pilot Study to determine the ability of synthetic orthopoxvirus inhibitory peptides to protect BALB/c mice from a lethal challenge of vaccinia virus (VACV) strain IHD-J admini stered intranasally. The study will begin to assess the potential of synthetic peptides capable of potently blocking the Intracellular mature (IMV) and extracellular enveloped (EEV) forms of orthopoxviruses in vitro, to protect in vivo, and to outline the potential for this therapy to serve as a prophylactic and/or post-exposure therapeutic reagent for the treatment of orthopoxvirus infection or vaccine associated complications. Failure to procure SRI to complete this research with the mice would severely hurt the research project and halt all future progress. This is not a formal solicitation. This synopsis is not considered a Request for Quotation or Proposal. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. No contra ct will be award on the basis of offeros received in response to this notice. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. If no affirmative written response is received by the closing date of this Notice, the service will be award without further notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Detailed capabilities must be submitted to the following email address no later than 10:00am, Easter Standard Time, 27 September 2007. EMAIL: michelle.maldonado@det.amedd.army.mil.
