- Description
- Joint Munitions & Lethality Acquisition Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is seeking qualified sources for a SD&D effort beginning in FY09 to meet an anticipated requirement for a 105mm capability organic to the Army???s Infantry Brigade Combat Teams, for 155mm and 105mm precision munitions. The US Army is considering combining the planned 155mm precision munitions development and production program to be executed in cooperation with Sweden, to provide for both the 155mm and 105mm capabilities. Interested sources are requested to provide a design concept(s) and planning numbers for each projectile, in terms of nonrecurring costs, time to complete development, and unit production costs. For initial planning purposes, the contractors shall assume that two hundred (200) tactical ???All Up Rounds" (AURs) and two hundred (200) non- tactical rounds for other safety and performance testing for each caliber are to be delivered to the Army to complete qualification testing. The target cost is $15,000-$20,000 per projectile at $60-100M per year for 10 years. Key elements for this proposed effort are component commonality, reducing non- recurring engineering costs, and similar approaches for the soldier as a result of this merged concept. In addition, qualified offerors are requested to submit the pros and cons for the concept of merging the two rounds. A synopsis of the draft 155mm and 105mm Requirements Documents will be provided to qualified offerors upon request. This market survey is for information and planning purposes only, and does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP). It is not to be construed as a commitment by the U.S. Government. No award will be made as a result of this market survey. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any private sector input as a result of this market survey. The Government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey.
