Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command, Program Manager for Ammunition desires the acquisition and qualification of a non-developmental smoke grenade to replace the five (5) existing colors of M18 Smoke Grenades; Green, Yellow, Red, Violet and White. The M18 Colored Smoke Grenades are used for ground-to-air or ground-to-ground Signaling / Screening. The Grenades must meet all U. S. environmental restrictions on filled screening / smoke grenade mixtures. Interested parties must: 1) Have a non-developmental smoke hand grenade capable of producing a cloud of smoke for 60 to 90 seconds. The current Smoke Grenade uses the M201A1 fuze that has a 2-3 second pyrotechnic delay. The body contains a primer, first fire mixture, pyrotechnic delay column, and ignition mixture. Assembled to the body are a striker, striker spring, safety lever, and safety pin with pull ring; 2) Have the capability to meet all U. S. Government and Military CONUS / OCONUS storage requirements / restri! ctions normally imposed on storage of similar munitions; 3) Have existing production tooling / line capable of producing approximately 5,000 Grenades per month after initial start up; 4) Have the technical expertise and facilities to conduct standard North Atlantic Treaty Organization/ Insensitive Munitions (NATO/IM) safety tests prior to delivery of qualification samples; and 5) Must follow all U.S. DOT transportation regulations and not alter the transportation requirements of any vehicle that carries said item. The Grenade must have the capability to function with no degradation under environmental conditions of hot, cold, and ambient temperatures when fired and must be similar to the following description: Grenade (with fuze): Model .............................M18 Body ..................................Sheet metal Weight ...............................19 oz Length ...............................5.75 in. Color...................................Gray or olive drab w/ black markings Safety device .....................Pull ring and safety pin The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 332993, Grenades, Hand or Projectile, Manufacturing. All contractors who provide goods/services to the DoD must be registered in the Central Contractor Register (CCR).
