Description
Ref Synopsis: SOCOM-07-Ss-CV-22. As a result of responses received to this 14 Sep 07 synopsis, it has been determined that IAW FAR 19.502-2(b)(1) there are not at least 2 responsible small business concerns that meet the government's requirements. Therefore it has been determined that award will be made as a result of Full and Open competition. An RFP is expected to be released 30 Oct 07 and responses will be due COB 28 Nov 07. Award is anticipated 14 Dec 2007 for a system that is capable of meeting a need for an interim all-quadrant defensive weapon system for the CV-22 aircraft. It is critical that the CV-22 possess a self-defense capability that will provide maximum protection from threats in the vicinity of the landing zone. USSOCOM is seeking a system that can be rapidly produced and support testing of by the end of January 2008. The weapon system must have the following minimum characteristics: mission configurable, crew-served, night vision device (NVD) compatible, adjustable rate of fire, maximum coverage of all quadrants within the maximum range of the weapon, and located in the cabin area of the aircraft. Modular growth capabilities are desired; however only a basic near term capability is required. The prototype system must be ready to flight test within 120 days of contract award.
