- Description
- This project consists of identifying, recording and falling approximately 1000 danger trees along the 81, 83, 24, and 8040 roads located on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Mount Saint Helens National Volcano Monument, and Mt Adams Ranger District. A danger tree is defined as a standing dead tree that presents a hazard to people due to conditions such as, but not limited to, deterioration or physical damage to the root system, truck, stem, or limbs and the direction or lean of the tree. An even mix of dead danger trees between 12 inches and 60 inches diameter that have the potential to hit the road surface on both sides of the road shall be felled. Designated danger trees will be any dead trees that if it falls naturally would hit the road surface. Dead trees leaning away from road, or too far to reach road will not be cut.
