- Description
- NASA/ARC has a requirement for an EPX 5000 Image Generation System (IGS) and four optional IG assemblies. NASA/ARC intends to purchase the IGS and the optional assemblies from Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions. This IGS will be integrated with an existing Rockwell Collins EPXtm 5000 Image Generator (IG) in support of the Flight Simulation mission of the Vertical Motion Simulator (VMS). The VMS is a high fidelity six degree of freedom motion simulator stand-alone facility with the ability to rapidly prototype any aspect of a simulation, including, but not limited to, handling qualities, cockpit controls, cueing devices and high fidelity motion, and flight deck graphics systems. Rockwell Collins is the manufacturer of the IGS. Therefore, is uniquely capable of providing the expertise required for integration of both IG systems and ensuring the developed visuals are correct. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:30 p.m. local time on December 12, 2007. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
