Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contemplates award of a five year contract (including options) to establish and maintain an ?Inventory of Influenza Reagent Resources?, to improve availability of these reagents to researchers, public health professionals and industry, as part of the government?s pandemic preparedness planning efforts. The successful contractor would acquire, produce, characterize, store and distribute reference reagents, including 1) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primers, dual-labeled fluorescent probes and other reagents for use with influenza real time RT-PCR testing, 2) nucleic acids from influenza and other respiratory agents, to use as viral test standards, 3) plasmid DNA, 4) recombinant expressed antigens, 5) monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, 6) GMP manufactured quantitative one step RT-PCR reagent kits intended for diagnostic testing by real time RT-PCR, 7) Lyophilized primers, probes for diagnostic testing for influenza and other respiratory viral and bacterial agents, and 8) Lyophilized enzyme chemistries for diagnostic testing for influenza and other respiratory viral and bacterial agents, to aid in the development, evaluation, validation and testing of influenza diagnostic products; to support vaccine development; and, to assist in characterization of viruses as part of influenza surveillance activities. While ensuring that an adequate stock of laboratory reagents is on-hand and available to the CDC, public health agencies and commercial developers in the event of an influenza pandemic, the contractor would also make reagent materials available to clinicians, researchers and public health professionals through an electronic storefront (website). The website would also serve as a conduit for requests from these communities for reagent organisms developed under a related CDC contract, entitled ?Library of CDC?s Influenza Viruses?. Interested offerors are requested to submit capability statements to Bonnie Kennedy, CDC Procurement and Grants Office, via e-mail at bskennedy@cdc.gov, by no later than July 6, 2007. Please be sure to provide technical qualifications in your specific areas of interest (Items 1-8 and/or storefront); and, provide information required to assess your organization?s small business size status (i.e., average gross annual receipts for preceding three fiscal years; and, number of employees).
