Description
Sources Sought Synopsis - This is not a Notice of Solicitation. The Walla Walla District Corps of Engineers is issuing this notice to determine if there are an adequate number of interested business concerns capable of providing Professional Service s to perform pit tagging operations as describe herein. The Government intends to make two awards to fulfill the following requirements. Businesses repsonding to this sources sought announcement may register via email to clarence.a.miller@usace.army.mil. This announcement is based on the best information available and may be subject to future modification This announcement does not commit the Government to award of a contract. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is not responsible for any costs incurred b y responding to this notice. Please be advised that all information submitted will be considered procurement sensitive. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, is planning on awarding two contracts. The first award will be PIT tagging app roximately 45,000 yearlings Snake River Fall Chinook Salmon at Lyons Ferry Hatchery, WA. Fish must be tagged the 28, 29, and 30 of January 2008 prior to transfer to acclimation facilities located in the Snake and Clearwater River drainages. The second aw ard is to PIT tag approximately 166,000 spring/summer Chinook salmon at Rapid River Hatchery, ID and 296,000 spring Chinook salmon at the Dworshak National Fish Hatchery, ID starting approximately February 8- 28, 2008. Contractors must have extens ive experience PIT tagging at large salmonid hatcheries. The contractor must be capable of PIT tagging up to 24,000 fish per day. The contractor must follow the PIT-tagging protocols mandated by the National Marine Fisheries Service, the Nez Perce Tribe, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Oregon Department of Fish and Game, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Idaho Fish and Game, and the Corps of Engineers using techniques described in Prentice et, al. (1990). Fish will be tagged with 12.5mm Dest ron Fearing 134.2 kHz ISO PIT SST tags using a 12-guage hypodermic needle fitted onto modified syringes. The contractor must be capable of providing documentation of their qualifications and experience in conducting large scale PIT tagging operations and provide tag retention rates and post tagging survival. The Corps of Engineers will furnish PIT tags.
